Child Abuse Prevention [CAP] is a team taking care of young buds that are the future back bones of India. We as a team are working for spreading of awareness and also supporting organizations working towards child rights and abuse free world.

 The Demanding Back Ground

* India is the home to almost 19% of the worlds' children. More than one third of country's     population around 440 millions are below 18 years. According to assumption about 40 % of     these children are in need of care and protection, which indicates the extend of problem.

  The children are subjected to 3 kind of abuse

* Physical abuse:
    i  2 out of every 3 children are physically abused.
    ii  Out of 69% children physically abused 54.68% were boys.
    iii  65% of school going children reported facing corporal punishments [2/3 of children]
    iv  62% of corporal punishments was in government and municipal schools.
    v  50.2% of children worked 7 days a week.

* Sexual Abuse:
    i  53.22% of children reported having faced one or more forms of sexual abuse.
    ii  Andra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Delhi reported the highest percentage of sexual abuse and         sexual assault
    iii  21.9% of child respondent reported facing severe form of sexual abuse and 50.7% other         forms of abuse and 5.69% reported being sexually assaulted.
    iv  Children on street,work and children in institutional care reported the highest incidence of         sexual assault.
    v  50% of abusers are person known to the child or in a position of trust and responsibility.
    vi  Most children did not report the matter to anyone.

* Emotional abuse / Girl Child Neglect:
    i  Every second child reported facing emotional abuse
    ii  Equal % of both boys and girls reported facing emotional abuse
    iii  In 83% of cases parents were the abusers
    iv  48.4% of girls wished they were boys

 Activities Done

* On 8th June, 2008 Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Program focusing on spread of information   in a silent way to the parents and kids was organized. We also organized games for the kids,   painting competition and Singing competition in Guindy Children’s Park.
* Conducted a rally against child abuse in association with Tulir- 15th November 2009 at Marina.

 Proposed Projects

* To conduct awareness campaign in different parts of the city.
* To arrange PTA in government schools.
* To raise Voice against different issues related to Child Abuse.
* To conduct counseling to the parents and kids.
* To print information in the School Diaries.
